Malden Mayors Make a 2013 World Series Wager

The 2013 World Series wager is between Malden, Mass. Mayor Gary Christenson and Mayor Ray Santie of Malden, Mo.

With the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals squaring off in the 2013 World Series, Malden mayors from Massachusetts and Missouri, respectively, have placed a friendly wager, according to a city press statement.

The wager is between Malden, Mass. Mayor Gary Christenson and Mayor Ray Santie of Malden, Mo.

If the Red Sox win the World Series, Santie will deliver Missouri’s native grown rice and purple hull peas to Christenson’s office, according to the statement. However, if the Cardinals win, Christenson will send Santie’s office an assortment from Malden-based New England Coffee, the statement adds.

Also, the mayor of the city that loses will have to wear the winning team’s jersey to work the day after the final game of the World Series, reads the statement.

“I look forward to sampling some native Missouri fare!” Christenson said in the statement.
