With the Boston Red Sox winning the 2013 World Series in six games, Mayor Ray Santie of Malden, Mo. made good on his wager with Malden, Mass. Mayor Gary Christenson and wore a Boston Red Sox shirt the day after the St. Louis Cardinals lost, according to a city press statement.

Christenson will be receiving Missouri’s native grown rice and purple hull peas along with recipes, according to the statement.

Though Red Sox official gear is very scarce in Malden, Mo., Santie was able to get his hands on a Red Sox hat, according to the statement. The shirt, however, had to be created for him to fulfill his end of the bet, the statement adds.

“This has been a lot of fun,” Christenson said in the statement. “I plan to send the Mayor an assortment of our New England Coffees for being such a great sport.”

In the past 10 years, the Red Sox have won three World Series titles—two of which have been against the Cardinals (2004, 2013).
