Youngsters decked out in their Halloween costumes visited businesses in the Malden Square area Thursday during the 10th annual Malden Chamber of Commerce Trick-or-Treat event.

Despite the rain, kids and adults followed a treasure map and made their way around Malden Square to the 30 businesses participating in the event to receive candy. Eighteen businesses participated in the event last year, according to Jenna Coccimiglio, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce.

A group of children from a local daycare paid McGruff the Crime Dog and others a visit while trick-or-treating at City Hall Plaza. A Malden Fire engine was also on scene for kids to check out.

Meanwhile, stands were set up at the plaza, including ones run by AT&T, Housing Families, the Chamber and Mayor Gary Christenson, who doled out candy to children while donning a traffic supervisor costume.
