YWCA Malden hosts Screening of Girl Rising TONIGHT

YWCA Malden to host a screening of the VERY POWERFUL Film Girl Rising at the Malde Teen Enrichment Center 1 Salem Street Malden (across from Malden High School)   

A film that tells the stories of 9 extrodinary girls from 9 developing countries narrated by 9 renowned actresses.  Girl Rising showcases the strength of the human spirit and the Power education has to change the world. 

Around the world, girls face barriers to education that boys do not. But

educating girls can break cycles of poverty in just one generation. These

statistics offer insights on those barriers, and also illustrate the lasting

impact education has on girls, families, communities and nations around

the world.

------A child born to a literate mother is 50% more likely to survive past

the age of 5. (UNESCO)

-----Educated mothers are more than twice as likely to send their

children to school. (UNICEF)

-----A girl with an extra year of education can earn 20% more as an adult.
