New Clients at 'Tailored for Success' Embrace Change

The only constant is change, and sometimes you have to change the way you do things to help more people in this difficult ecomomy.

They say "change is the only constant".

Well, in order to deal with the overwhelming demand for services at Tailored For Success, Inc., the nonprofit I founded 10 years ago, I need to start thinking of better ways to serve clients. Since the economic downturn, Tailored For Success has seen a significant increase in the number of women (and men) coming in for interview clothing.

The good news is that, because of a recent partnership with corporate partners like Men's Wearhouse, State Street Global Advisors and Deloitte, we've had plenty of clothing. The bad news is that we don't have enough staff to handle all the clients that need appointments.

When TFS started, we decided to "suit" clients individually through one hour appointments; however, with the increase in the number of unemployed individuals and the increase need for clothing for job fairs, it is not always possible to accommodate everyone. As Executive Director, one of my duties is to market our services to clients. I do this mainly through conducting workshops on how to "Work Your Image" at various agencies in my service area. The workshop reviews the services of TFS, along with the rules for dressing for interviews and job fairs.  This usually encourages 4-6 clients to make individual appointments for services.

Last week, I decided to change it up a little. I held a workshop at Tailored For Success for clients on how to dress for interviews/job fairs, then did a group "suiting" at our resale boutique Tailored Impressions. This way, I was able to not only conduct a workshop, but also to provide six clients with suits and clothing for job fairs all in one day. This turned out to be a very efficient (and fun) way to serve clients.

And as you can see from the photo, the clients got the clothing they needed and were happy with the results!

Enjoy the Journey!
