Malden, Somerville PD Apprehend Malden Bank Robber In Under Two Hours

Man allegedly robbed a credit union in Malden around 3 p.m. Malden Police coordinated with Somerville and apprehended the suspect just after 4.

An unidentified suspect was arrested in Somerville after allegedly robbing the US Alliance Credit Union on Eastern Ave., according to police scanner transmissions. 

No police spokesmen were available for comment Wednesday afternoon, and no details about his identity or a confirmed site of the robbery were available by press time. 

Police said the suspect fled from the scene in a blue moped, wearing all black, including a helmet with a black and white design and a grey hoodie, according to police scanner transmissions.

Investigators later found two mopeds just blocks from the robbery at Exclusive Auto, prompting police to contact local cab companies to see if anyone hailed a taxi near the abandoned vehicles.

Officers also found a helmet and pair of pants matching the description of the suspect.

Ultimately, police identified a cab heading down Mystic Ave. in Somerville, though the man was later seen running into a home on Montgomery Ave. - an address that matched the registration of one of the abandoned mopeds. 

Somerville police ultimately found a suspect hiding in the bushes nearby, according to transmissions.
