Readers: Pet Store Should Open in Winchester in 2013

Find out what other businesses Winchester Patch readers would like to open in 2013 in addition to a pet store.

After asking you, our readers, what type of business you'd like to see open in Winchester in 2013, the top vote-getter was a pet store.

Wanted: Pet Store in Winchester

Of the eight votes cast, a pair of readers supported the idea of opening a pet store in town.

"Pet store/self dog wash store...like Dharma Dog that used to be at the Whole Foods plaza," wrote reader Heidi Driscoll. Fellow reader BAV concurred, saying, "A pet store. A Brigham's (Ice Cream). A video rental store. Maybe a copy or stationery store. I guess maybe just the things that closed over the past 30 years..."

Food & Drink Destinations

While pet store was the top vote-getter, readers had some food and drink-related ideas as to what should open in Winchester.

"A non-Asian, authentic ethnic restaurant. Think Tu y Yo (authentic Mexican) from Teele Sq. in Somerville or Helmand (Afghan) from East Cambridge near the Galleria mall," wrote reader Stacey Irizarry.

With Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks already established in the community, reader MB wants to see "a non-chain coffee shop" open.

Sports and Creative Space

Reader Kevin pitched the idea of a sporting goods store opening in the community not only for business purposes, but to work with local sports teams.

"How about a sporting goods store? Subsidize it with the town's sports teams, a shoe store...look at Lexington and Belmont centers," he wrote. "We have banks, we have hardware, we have pizza, baked goods ... look to back fill the stores we don't have. The last thing we need is another hair or nail salon."

Meanwhile, reader Sox Fan wants to see something a bit different open up in town: "(A) creative project space for kids (and adults). Like ArtBeat in Arlington, or H3XL in Burlington, or Parts and Crafts in Somerville."

We had Pampered Pets and it was wonderful, I think it moved to Woburn. While we are at it bring back Bellino's Pizza and Brigham's.

We need a good breakfast place (Swanton St Diner is awful). A sporting goods store could thrive. NO MORE SALONS!!!!!!!!!!

Something like art beat, kidcasso or a clay place with drop in time would be great!
