Snow Emergency Goes into Effect Tuesday Night in Malden

The City of Malden has declared a snow emergency that goes into effect Tuesday night, according to a city press statement.

The snow emergency will be in place from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.

"After the snow emergency goes into effect...winter parking rules will be strictly enforced until the snow emergency is lifted...," reads the statement. "To avoid getting a ticket or being towed on streets with restrictions, please seek off-street parking until the snow emergency has been lifted at 5 (a.m. Wednesday)."

The city will open up several locations for residents to park free of charge until the snow emergency has been lifted, including:

• Early Learning Center, 257 Mountain Ave.
• Beebe School, 401 Pleasant St.
• Forestdale School, 74 Sylvan St.
• Ferryway School, 150 Cross St.
• Linden School, 29 Wescott St.
• Salemwood School, 529 Salem St.
• CBD Garage, 170 Centre St.

"Again, vehicles may park at the above locations free of charge but must be removed by 5 (a.m. Wednesday)...or vehicles will be towed from these lots," reads the statement.

"Lastly, please remember that city ordinance requires homeowners to clear the sidewalk in front of their property within 24 hours of the conclusion of the storm, so please make sure you have cleared at least a (three) foot path on the sidewalk in front of your property," adds the statement.
