November 11th, 2013, a day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and for our freedom. At Atria Maplewood Place that is exactly what took place. The residents, family, staff and friends took part in a Veterans Day Service remembering those who made this sacrifice, including the 21 veterans that reside and Maplewood Place. The Pragram consisted of the presentation of colors, presented by members of the DAV. Invocation and Benediction by Rev. David Dismas, MDiv, STM, Pastor. Flanders Fields was read by Atria Maplewood Place resident Howard MacGowan who was in the U.S. Marine Corp. The guest speaker for the event was Deb Olson, Department inspector for the Department of Mass. DAV, and the Malden Chapter 85 Service Officer for the DAV. Invited guest, Mayor Gary Christenson, was in attendance to personally thank the Veterans of Maplewood Place for their time and dedication.
