After months of renovations, the new Waitt’s Mount park in Malden opened this week.

The mountain park, off Leonard Street, has skyline views of Boston and is walking distance from the Oak Grove MBTA Station.

Did you go to the new Waitt’s Mount park on its opening weekend? If so, let us know what you thought of the renovations in the comments.

Can people reserve the picnic area for a group? A friend heard someone say they reserved it at the Police Department... Is there anything online somewhere about the procedures? The photos show a lot of improvements -- looks great!

Could they have put down any more tar, and hardscape? Wow. How much did they spend to scrape away nature? Are they afraid the vegetation will clean the air and provide shade and food for birds? All of the places I see for people to use do not have any shade not will they. How many trees were removed for this improvement? Malden, where nature is not allowed.

A major cleanup and the paved areas allow for easier maintenance & recreation. Hope everyone respects this treasure.

Looks like the paved paths are for bikes, roller blades, scooters, strollers and wheelchairs. Poppy, there is plenty of shady wooded area. It just isn't brochure material. Nice to see this family-friendly, accessible improvement.

No there is not lots of shady wooded area. Malden has less that 5 percent open space. This is what the lousy places to live do with the bit of nature left they have. Anyplace nice to live has 20 percent and more (though losing that percent all the time). Wear your sunblock when going to the waits mount 'woods'. You'll need it.
