Man's 70th Year in Malden Honored with Bench

Malden native Barry Malitsky came of age playing on Ferryway Green in the late 40s. Now, he has his own bench.

Family and friends came together at the Ferryway School ball field last week for the dedication of a wooden bench donated in honor of Malden native, Barry Malitsky.

Surrounded by loved ones, Malitsky reminisced of days spent playing baseball and hanging out with friends at Ferryway Green in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Malitsky remains close to many of those then young men, and to honor his 70th birthday his family wanted to give something to the city, according to a press release.

"We didn't have big backyards or big playrooms in our houses - we all came here and this is where we all played - we learned to get along, we became friends and we grew up,” said Malitsky.
