The Malden Rotary Club Installs Debbie Amaral as 2014-2105 President

The Malden Rotary Club held its annual Installation of Officers Dinner this past Wednesday, June 25th.  Immediate Past President David Hart welcomed 2014/15 President Debbie Amaral . Deb who serves as the Malden YMCA’s Executive Director looks forward to leading the club with an eye on celebrating local non-profits and increasing the club membership.

At the festive dinner held at the Dockside River View many members were recognized for the outstanding efforts in helping the club achieve its annual goals; among those recognized where Rotarians Mark Lawhorne and Paul Solano. Mark and Paul were singled out by club President David Hart for their efforts to ensure the huge success of Malden Rotary’s annual Road Race and for great commitment toward “Service Above Self.”  Both of these civic minded individuals received Rotary International’s prestigious Paul Harris Fellows awards.

Also recognized at the ceremony were long standing members of Malden Rotary who have shown their commitment to the Malden community and who have also established a legacy of “Service Above Self.” Among those also receiving Paul Harris fellow Awards were:

  • Neil Buckley, retired Malden Police Chief

  • Dr. Charles Rounds, retired Dentist and business owner

  • Rabbi Mark Golub, retired Clergy

  • President David Hart’s tenure was aimed at recognizing those who locally go above in beyond to ensure a strong and vibrant Malden community. Dave’s leadership and work with the Malden High School InterAct Club proved invaluable as they received a Presidential Citation for Service to the Community. Their work included serving meals at the Food market in conjunction with Hallmark health and The Malden Zonta Club. They also have worked hard to support our annual road race and to develop a strong future board and InterAct Club for future generations.

    Dave has also helped to establish The Malden Rotary as a leader in Rotary District #7930 is growing due to his involvement in the Global Grant Scholarship program and serving as a member of the District Foundation Committee. Under his leadership Malden rotary has also received recognition as having achieved both "Every Rotarian Every Year" and Rotary Foundation's "Sustaining Member" status. 

    Malden Rotary consists of business men and women who believe in the Rotary Motto of "Service above Self," which appeals to those who are committed to giving their own personal time and resources to benefit those in need.
