A large capacity crowd attended City Councillor at Large candidate Robert S. McCarthy, Jr.’s recent Campaign Kick off event on Saturday, July 6, 2013. The Campaign Kickoff Barbecue was held at his residence at 227 Emerald Street in the Edgeworth section of Malden overlooking Devir Park. McCarthy ran for a City Councillor at Large seat in 2011 and he received tremendous support from the voters of Malden. McCarthy is running once again for City Councillor at Large in this year’s municipal election.
McCarthy comes from a family who has deep roots in the city of Malden with a long record of public service to the citizens of the City of Malden. His family has lived in the Edgeworth section of Malden for over 100 years. Both McCarthy’s father Robert S. McCarthy and Grandfather, John F. Glynn served on the Malden City Council for many years. McCarthy stated “My family has always taught me to give back to the community and try to help people on a daily basis and make a difference in their lives. Fundamentally, my goal is to make Malden a better place in which to live, work and raise a family. It is this basic premise that will be the hallmark of my candidacy for Councillor at Large.”
When McCarthy addressed the crowd of family, friends, neighbors and citizens of Malden from every corner of the city he thanked them for their support and encouragement. McCarthy went on to talk about his campaign themes of “BUILDING A STRONGER COMMUNITY TOGETHER and INVESTING IN MALDEN’S FUTURE. He spoke emphatically about his dedication of his key priorities of being a leader who will fight for strengthening Public Safety, work diligently to increase educational opportunities for our children, create fiscally responsible solutions to ensure that the taxpayer dollars are protected in the best ways possible.
I will also promote accountability and efficiency within the city government by looking at ways to consolidate city services in the most cost effective way while ensuring that the delivery of these services remain effective. I will be a strong neighborhood advocate for the many proud neighborhoods throughout Malden. I will stand up for the neighborhoods throughout Malden to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of this city by always putting the people first.
Communication and accessibility are paramount components of my candidacy. I will be an independent voice on the Malden City Council. I will be a leader in the area of encouraging sound environmental policies which will be a beneficial tax savings to the citizens of Malden.
In closing, McCarthy stated that he will represent the best interests of the residents of Malden with honesty, integrity and common sense. I respectfully ask for one of your three votes for Councillor-at-Large on Election Day.
