Boston, Mass. – Education Pioneers, a nonprofit that attracts, prepares and advances top leaders and managers to accelerate excellence in education, is pleased to announce that Malden resident Habib Bangura will participate in this year’s Graduate School Fellowship at Boston Public Schools.

In 2013, nearly 7,000 top graduate students and early career professionals applied to participate in the selective Education Pioneers Fellowship programs, a more than 70 percent increase in applications from 2012.  Of the applicants, approximately 450 top candidates have been selected to participate in the 2013 Fellowships.

“We have an amazing group of Fellows who will be able to support the important work of the organization they will be placed with during their Fellowship to accelerate change,” said Kimberly Zouzoua, Executive Director, Northern Region for Education Pioneers. “Since Education Pioneers’ inception in Boston in 2005, 84 percent of greater Boston alumni are now working full-time in the education sector. Our Fellowship programs provide talented students and professionals with a great insight to the education field and afford them with future job and networking opportunities.”

During their Fellowships, Education Pioneers Fellows work outside the classroom to help implement or advance important initiatives that directly support teaching and learning success inside the classroom. Fellows also work alongside industry experts and cohort peers, and learn about key education challenges to deepen their understanding of the complexities of K-12 public education. Beyond their Fellowships, more than 70 percent of Education Pioneers’ Alumni in the workforce nationally have chosen to work full-time in the education sector.
