Malden Kiwanis Delivers Halloween"Toe Bags" to Childrens Hospital

For the past decade the Kiwanis Club of Malden  has spearheaded an effort in Boston to bring Halloween gift bags to area pediatric hospitals.  In honor of William “The Toe” Sullivan.  a good friend who had been very sick as a child (and throughout his life) and had spent a lot of time in hospitals, who once said  his saddest days were when he had to miss out on all the fun of the Halloween season as a child because it is such a kid orientated holiday. After his passing, we found out that he had been visiting the several of the local hospitals he had spent so many nights at to bring small gifts to the children during Halloween. To honor him, the Kiwanis club of Malden began putting together small treat bags and distributing them to Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at Children’s Hospital in Boston. The bags are food free because of the special diet requirements of the children but include stuffed animals, flashlights, puzzle books, puppets, masks and various toys and I have seen firsthand the smiles they can bring during this difficult time to parents, siblings and the kids themselves. On Sunday, Club President Danielle Hender, along with Eric MacCuish, and other family and friends, put together the bags that were delivered on Monday to the hospital.
