Mayor to Read to Children at Malden Public Library Thursday

Here are five things to know for Thursday, Sept. 19 in Malden.

1. Reading to kids: Malden Public Library will introduce a new program that runs from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Thursdays, as Mayor Gary Christenson will read to children in the Children's Room.

2. In case you missed it: A Malden woman is accused of drunk driving and child endangerment.

3. Meeting time: The Malden Board of Appeal meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Herbert L. Jackson Council Chamber at Malden Government Center, according to the city website.

4. Swim tryouts: The Malden YMCA Croken Crocs swim team will be having tryouts from 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the YMCA, according to an event posting on Malden Patch. Children ages 5-18 who can swim one length of the pool on their fronts and one length of the pool on their backs are eligible for the team, reads the posting.
