Anthony's to Host Mayor's Senior Cookout in Malden

Here are five things to know for Thursday, Sept. 12 in Malden:

1. Cookout: The mayor's annual Senior Cookout is set for 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Anthony's, 105 Canal St.

2. Assessors session: The Malden Board of Assessors meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in Room 317 at Malden Government Center, according to the city website.

3. Senior activities: There are plenty of activities going on Thursday at the Malden Senior Center, according to the senior center's September newsletter, including:

8:30 a.m.: Computer classes 
9 a.m.: Chinese outreach 
9 a.m.: ESL classes 
9:30 a.m.: Computer classes 
9:30 a.m.: Chinese history, literature discussion 
9:30 a.m.: Gentle mat yoga 
9:30 a.m.: Reflexology 
10 a.m.: Flu, pneumonia shot 
11 a.m.: Gentle chair yoga 
12 p.m.: Haitian outreach/ESL 
12:30 p.m.: Blood pressure 
1 p.m.: Bingo 
1:30 p.m.: Sit, stand, walk to music 
2:45 p.m.: Line dancing

4. Fundraiser: The Malden High School cheerleaders will be having a fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Dockside Restaurant. Twenty-five percent of all purchases (dine in or carry out) made will benefit the cheerleaders. Make sure to present the MHS certificate (see/print attached image) when ordering.

5. In case you missed it: A Malden Catholic High School grad was sworn in as a Melrose firefighter on Sept. 11.
