Malden Special Education Parent Advisory Council: Technology for Parents and Caretakers of children with Special Needs

Malden Special Education Parent Advisory Council invites all parents and caretakers of children with special needs to participate in a workshop, Technology for Parents and Caretakers of Children with Special Needs. The purpose of this workshop is  to educate  all participants to the many ways computer can be used at home with their students.    Jeannette Beal, Special Education Technologist for the Malden Public Schools will share the many ways parents and caretakers can use the computer to help children reinforce at home what is being taught at school. Workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the computer room of the Ferryway School, 150 Cross Street. 

This workshop is free and is for parents and caretakers only. The Ferryway School is located at the intersection of Cross Street and Ferry Street and serves grades K-8. The school has about 900 students with 65 teachers. Special education programs are available for students with special needs.

The school has its own library, as well as a very large gymnasium. Ferryway School has an active PTO organization for parents looking to be more involved with the school and its teachers.

The Ferryway School is a recipient of the Read First Federal Grant, which provides professional development in reading to professors teaching any grade between K-3. The Ferryway School has also been the recipient of the HP Technology for Teaching Leadership Grant which gave computer carts and projectors to the school.
