DESCRIPTION:Who are you?\nGeeks Who Drink is a Denver-based company that
hosts Bar Trivia at over 200 pubs and restaurants in 21 states. Our quiz
is a collective effort of dozens of quizmasters\, writers\, fact-check
 ers\, graphic designers and artists.\nWhat&rsquo\;s a pub quiz?\nSimply
 \, a quiz game played in a pub. It's an Anglo-Irish tradition\, but our
goal is the same: to foster friendly competition\, and promote social
 drinking. A noble cause!\nIsn't that just &ldquo\;trivia night&rdquo\;?\
nNo\, and no. Most so-called &ldquo\;trivia nights&rdquo\; consist of ei
ther an MP3J reading Trivial Pursuit cards in between bad music\, or a
bunch of people staring at TVs with buzzers in hand. Our quiz burns thr
ough nearly 70 multimedia questions in two exciting hours. The quizmast
er gets to know the players\, and smack talk flying around in all direc
tions is pretty much par for the course.\nDoes it cost anything?\nWith
rare exceptions\, no. You should buy food and drinks though. Our busine
ss model is no big secret: We drive business to our host venues or we g
et fired. So just ordering water is NOT cool. Plus\, fish have sex in t
hat stuff.&nbsp\;\nDo I need to sign up beforehand or can I just show up
and play?\nJust show up. Team size is limited to six. Play solo if you'
 d like\, but don't blame us if you're lonely.\nAll right\, so what&rsquo
\;s in it for me?\nBesides a couple hours of free entertainment\, the to
p&nbsp\; teams get bar gift certificates. Plus there are chances to win
free pints (or gift-certificate equivalents) for answering five bonus
questions throughout the evening. We also have bizarre prizes courtesy
of our weekly Bonus Email Question. Finally\, your team can revel in th
e eternal glory of having your photo posted on this here website.\nIs t
he quiz hard?\nIn general\, the quiz starts off easy and progresses in d
ifficulty as the night goes on. Also\, the quiz is set up to reward the
most versatile teams. Most folks over 35 will be stumped on questions
about the Xbox 360\, while most folks under 35 know little about the Re
agan years. And just about everyone is stumped when we throw in a round
on country music.\nTo get a feel for our questions check out a sample
round here.\nWhat's the quiz format like?\nThe quiz consists of eight ro
unds of eight questions each\, played by teams of up to six people. Que
stions are read aloud by the quizmaster and teams write down the answer
s\, turning them in at the end of each round.\nRounds 1\,&nbsp\; 4 and
6 are themed rounds &ndash\; anything from &ldquo\;Eight Questions Abou
t Sex That Won&rsquo\;t Make You Too Uncomfortable&rdquo\; to &ldquo\;TV
Shows Your Parents Watch.&rdquo\; Round 2 is a music round worth doubl
e points: name the artist and title for each song clip. Round 3 is a mu
ltiple choice round or a speed round. Round 5 is a visual round based o
n a printed handout. The all-audio Round 7 usually covers movies or TV
shows\, and is worth the standard eight points. Finally\, Round 8 is al
ways 16 points on Random Knowledge.\nOne round can be jokered\, doublin
g your points for that round only (yes\, the 16-point rounds are fair g
ame). The team with the most points after eight rounds is the winner.
