Deadline for Malden Cultural Council Grants
MALDEN CULTURAL COUNCIL SEEKS FUNDING PROPOSALS
The Malden Cultural Council is seeking proposals from organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs. Proposals must be postmarked or time stamped at the City Clerk’s office no later than October 15.
According to Council spokesperson Stacey Gilchrist, these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Malden -- including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops and lectures.
The Malden Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCC) serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
This year, the Malden Cultural Council will distribute about $18,620 in grants. Previously funded projects include: The Switchbox Project, Community Garden Design, Harvest Moon Festival, and various school field trips.
For specific guidelines and complete information on the Malden Cultural Council, contact Stacey Gilchrist at 781-322-6568 or email@example.com. Application forms and more information about the Local Cultural Council Program are available online at http://www.mass-culture.org/Malden. Application forms are also available at The Cyber Café, City Clerk’s Office and the Malden Public Library.
The Malden Cultural Council will meet on October 27th at 9:15am at the Malden Public Library to discuss and vote on this year’s applications. This meeting is open to the public, and all—especially applicants—are invited to attend.
