Thanksgiving got a lot happier on Wednesday November 21 thanks to the Salvation Army and the support of the community. Volunteers were handing out boxes with turkeys and all the other fixings for a good Thanksgiving dinner. In particular there was a group of Eighth graders from the Ferryway School that were helping people pick out fresh vegetables and bring boxes and turkeys to their vehicles.
The members and businesses in the community also helped out when they found out we were short 70 turkeys.
Lieutenant James and Captain Joy Labbe would like to thank the following for the generous outpouring of support:
Malden Athletic Department
Malden High Football Players & Cheerleaders
Oak Grove Improvement Association
Ferryway School Eighth Graders & Parents
Malden Police Benevolent Association
Paul Murphy Insurance
Kirkwood Printing in Wilmington
All the people who mailed us checks
All the people who supported the Malden High Football Turkey drive
Everyone else who has gone nameless
Without the support of everyone, Thanksgiving wouldn’t have been happy for over 150 families. Because of your generosity we were able to contact additional families that were not going to have a Thanksgiving meal and provide them with that. In the end we ended up with 20 extra turkeys which went to the Bread of Life Annual Thanksgiving Day dinner.
