MATV will again be holding two youth summer programs: "Kids Video Adventure Workshop" (KVA), “Multi-Media Madness” (MMM) this summer and two animation classes.
KVA is an award-winning program for young people, ages 9 – 14. It will be held at MATV August 13-24, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 1pm. During the two week session, participants will be given hands-on training with cameras, microphones, and the use of the studio control room to create their project. The workshop will also teach script writing, media literacy and set design, as well as prop making. The workshop is designed to promote the use of the child’s imagination as the instructors teach each student to focus their ideas into a clear vision that gets edited into a final production where each participant feels like a contributor to the final project. A red carpet premiere will be held to screen the final production.
MMM will be held July 23-27, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm. The workshop teaches youth, ages 11-15, to explore communication through new media. Young people will develop a blogsite, record and edit short videos, tell stories through photographs, writing, and podcasting, create animation and use our multi-camera studio. The blogsite will be updated daily so that their work can be seen immediately each day. Youth will be guided by the instructor to express themselves creatively, but also learn the responsibilities that come with using these media tools. A party for the participants, their families, and invited guests will be held in the evening sometime by the end of the summer where students will present their creative work and discuss what they learned in the program.
The tuition for KVA is $175 and for MMM is $150 (Discounts for siblings and financial aid are available for qualified families). Registration opens for both programs on Tuesday, April 17th.
To apply, please stop by at MATV with the complete registration form and a deposit of $75. The registration forms are available both at MATV and on the youth program page on our website www.matv.org/youthprograms. Spaces are limited and applications will be reviewed and accepted based on a number of considerations (including having a balanced number of boys/girls, age ranges, and first-time vs. experienced participants for the workshop). Once an application is accepted, the families will be contacted and the $75 deposit will be cashed.
Stop motion: 12-4pm, July 19 and 20 at MATV. Tuition: $40.
Flash animation: 1-2:30pm, Monday July 9, Tuesday 10 and Monday 16 at MATV. Tuition: $30
