Mystic Valley Senior Headed to Columbia

Nohamin Ayele was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia moved to and was raised in Malden and will be headed to the Ivy League by way of Columbia University in New York City in the fall.

While at Mystic Valley, Nohamin was the Co- President of the Model United Nations, Key Club Vice-President and a member of the National Honor Society. She also swam for the school and was active in the Learn to Swim program.

Mystic Valley Assistant Director for grades 9-12, George Benzie, said that: “Nohamin embodies the characteristics of a Mystic Valley graduate. She is exactly the type of student we want representing our school: she is energized by learning, seeks out opportunities for educating herself beyond the classroom, and involves herself in her community at every turn. She is positive, gracious and charismatic, and respected by her peers and teachers alike”.

Nohamin currently lives in Revere with her father Dawit Balcha, her mother Mulu Owman, and her brothers Alazar and Nahom Ayele.
