Mystic Valley MUN Goes to NYC

The Mystic Valley Model United Nations club recently traveled to the actual United Nations in New York City for their annual conference. This year both the opening and closing ceremonies were held in the UN General Assembly hall.  Ban Ki Moon (former Foreign Minister of South Korea and current Secretary-General of the United Nations) gave a speech at the opening ceremonies where he encouraged the students to "make noise."  He invited them to log into the UN website and to get involved, and told them that “Youth have a special ability to demand change. That is why I am coming to you.”

While at the conference, Mystic Valley won its first award as a program.  Senior Karl Afrikian won an Honorable Mention for Best Delegation for his work on behalf of Nicaragua on the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
