Change Your Clocks, Change the Batteries!
Instead of the usual real estate news this week, I decided to use this opportuntity to remind my readers about smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and now is a good time to replace those batteries.
Twenty five years ago, the International Association of Fire Chiefs noticed a disturbing trend that many fires with fatalities had non-working smoke detectors. The IAFC teamed up with the Energizer Corporation to develop the "Change Your Clocks, Change your Battery" campaign.
The campaign works with over 6,400 fire departments nationally, as well creates posters, banners and other materials to educate the public on the importance of having working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. In addition, Energizer has also donated batteries to local fire departments for distribution in their community.
Mortgage Rates
According to the Freddie Mac survey, average mortgage rates decreased for the week ending Thursday, November 1, 2012. The average 30 year mortgage decreased from 3.41% to 3.39% and the average 15 year mortgage decreased from 2.72 to 2.70.
Mortgage rates one year ago were 4.00% and 3.31% for the 30-year and 15-year fixed mortgages.
