As we start a new month (albeit snowy, slushy and cold), I thought I would blog about Women's History Month.
OK, so this is not so much a stretch for me to blog about this topic. Most if not all my friends, relatives and acquaintances know that I am all about women's issues. As Founder & Executive Director of Tailored For Success, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women, or in my role as President of the Zonta Club of Malden and lastly as Commissioner for the Massachusetts Commission for the Status of Women, I travel around the Commonwealth finding out what issues are important to women so I can bring them to the attention of the legislature - I pretty much focus on Women's History all year long!
However, for those of you who would like to learn more about the accomplishments, and contributions of women I urge you to visit a great website. The National Women's History Museum is full of information about and concerning women. By visiting the site you can learn the history of Women's History month, find out about the museum and get information on some great women.
Locally, you can join me and my sister Zontians as we celebrate four amazing women in our community at our annual Women Making a Difference dinner.
On Thursday, March 22, 2012 the Zonta Club of Malden will honor: Marie-Rodrique Coulanges (St.-Louis), a Community Volunteer; Anne D'Urso Rose, Asst. Director of Malden Access Television, Nancy Nazik Kassabian, Asst. Superintendant of Malden Public Schools and last but certainly not least - Gabriella Snyder Stelmak, Special Projects Coordinator for the Bread of Life.
The Women Making a Difference event will be held at Anthony's of Malden and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate Women's History month or the accomplishments of these four women who give so much to the Malden community.
Enjoy the Journey!
