Five members of the Mystic Valley girls’ soccer team were recently named to the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Girls’ Soccer All Star team. Their coach, Michael White, was named Coach of the Year. The girls honored were: Amanda Kerner, Kathryn McPherson, Krystiana Dimaro, Meghan Foley and Jackie Lane who was also named league MVP after finishing the year with a microscopic .25 goals allowed per game average in the net.
Coach White had high praise for each of his players:
Amanda Kerner – One of the best outside defenders in the league. Most games she is matched up against the best player on the other team and continuously shuts them down. Amanda is also one of this year’s team captains.
Kathryn McPherson – Far and away the best sweeper in the league. She is the backbone of our defensive unit. She is not only a leader on the field, but off of it. She is also one our captains and one of the main reasons why we only surrendered five goals this season.
Krystiana Dimaro – Another captain of this year’s team, she led the team in goals (19), assists (12) and points (31). She also led the CAC small division in points and very well could have won the league MVP. She moved to the center half position this year from a defense position on last year’s team and is the best center half in the league.
Meghan Foley – Had a great freshman year. She scored 11 goals on the season and she has established herself as one of the best young midfields in the league.
Jackie Lane – League MVP, Captain and the best goal keeper in the league and in my opinion in the state. Jackie recorded a team record 15 shutouts and only gave up 5 goals in 1400 minutes of soccer this season. She is one of those players that only comes around so often.
