BLOG: Blue Bags for our Trash
It is now monday, trash pick up day is coming around--and no blue bags to be found
Today I went to two stores in my area both have no large bags--I do not feel with my and I am sure many other people with busy schedules do not want to hunt them down.
If it is mandatory, which it is, they should be readily available to the residence of malden
If they can not be purchased without traveling around Malden, then it is time to get rid of them

because Malden wants to make money on you and me and could care less that they are not readily available; leave your trash on the streets like others do that dont want to pay for the bags

I will remain hopeful that the special group the mayor put in place to study the PAYT program and make recommendations for change will do just that. This week I also couldn't find any large blue bags and went to multiple stores. I understand the city needs revenue, I don't oppose that, every city faces the same fiscal realities. And I do my part to recycle - it's 2012, the environment is important. But don't tax me and make it a burden to do something as simple as throwing away my garbage under the constraints of those cheap bags. Fingers crossed for real change soon on this soon.

This is no different than the fiscal cliff. The city would go off that cliff according to politicians if you change the bag program. Problem at all levels of govt is that once they take your money they can never give it back as its spent as soon as they get it. We have to learn to do more with less in our households but its never going to happen with our city, state or federal govt. in fact its only going to get worse with how much they take from us because "us" spent more than we had.

Never bought a blue bag. Will hold out as long as I can. I already pay taxes to get trash picked up. Where is the money going?

the money for bags was a source of revenue to cover budget shortfalls, as stated by the previous regime. The revenues have been lower than expected though, but dont hold your breath, when do you see a government give up (taxes) sources of revenue.
BTW,... just what have you been doing with your trash for two years?

When I drive by my parents home or a friends on my way to work, I add to their pile or dumpster. My parents are gone half the year due to the cold, so it helps to show some kind of presence at their home. They help me. I help them. I pay my taxes. I get less.

I bought the large red barrells at Lamson n Davis for recycling. Got the stickers and put them on. Lot easier to do. Maybe all the ward councillors should have them at their homes for you to stop by and ring the bell. They could sell the blue bags to us from their home. After all they were all for the Blue Bags so why not supply them? Be a good oppertunity to meet your councillor too. They could have after hours between 4:PM and 8:00 pm. It would be so wonderfull right at supper time too.

KUDO's to JRM my street has not looked this good since recycling first began. Im off of Main Street and alot does blow up the hill from Bellrock Square so We cant hold them for that but they did a great job on Acorn Street. A big thank you to the drivers and shakers of JRM.
