Who Won the Brown-Warren Debate?

Incumbent Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren squared off in their first debate Thursday night.

Republican Senator Scott Brown faced off against Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren Thursday night in a debate televised by WBZ-TV. The Thursday debate was the first of four planned tilts between the candidates, and it saw disagreement between the two on just about every topic.

Polls have seesawed over the last week, with Brown and Warren swapping small leads, as they have throughout the campaign. The debates may provide one or the other an opportunity to change voter minds and swing the election his or her way.

Central to Thursday's debate was the focus on taxes, jobs and the economy.

"He has said he will defend the top 2 percent and the top 3 percent...and will hold the other 98% of families hostage," Warren said, referencing Brown's position against extending the Bush-era tax cuts unless it also contained cuts for the country's top earners.

Brown countered by noting that Warren's policies would raise taxes, on everyone, in fact, it's the "first thing she looks to do," he said.

"And the criticism is that I don't want to raise taxes," he said. "Guilty as charged. I'm not going to raise taxes. I'm going to protect taxpayers' pocketbooks and wallets."

Who do you think won the debate? Did the back and forth change your mind about the upcoming election? Did the candidates answer the questions you had?

Scott Brown not only won but proved he is the person for the job. Her people can write all the answers and retorts they want she just doesn't come across as genuine.

I'm sure you didn't watch the debate. Elizabeth is undoubtedly the winner. She strikes me as one woman who will one day rule the US. She's got the stuff

Scott Brown has two young adult daughters and still didn't vote for equal pay for women? Unthinkable! He needs to change his misleading campaign advertising. This makes me want to look into more about his voting record. I don't want a "nice guy" in image only representing me in the Senate. I also was offended by his racist comments towards Elizabeth Warren about her heritage. Does he think you can tell a person's cultural background simply by looking at him or her? The debate allowed us to understand more about who Scott Brown really is, and to know he is not who he wants us to think he is.

Funny no mention in this article of her defending Travelers Insurance vs the common man in the famous asbestos case. She cost a lot of people settlement money and yet claims to "stand-up" for them at the same time. She is a phoney.

According to the follow-ups I read, she won a $500 million dollars settlement for the claimants, but after she left the case, Travelers backed out.

What happen to all the adds talking about what a good guy Scott Brown is lol What I saw and heard Brown say at the debate with Warren was the worst of politicians, bringing up race and color who cares about that, we have far bigger worries, and to let his staff make fun of the Indian culture out on the streets was even lower .We did enough to the AMERICAN INDIANS . Mr. Brown you have showed me your true colors and that you are truly a Republican ,You act just like them.but then you vote like them too .I don't think we need more of his kind in Washington we have too many already there,My vote is for Liz Warren and what she stands for the working class the middle class and for our State.

Scott Brown and his supporters are classless thugs. They belong with the rest of the rednecks cheeering for the Braves with their "Tomahawk Chop".

Scott Brown will help the Republicans turns the USA into a feudal state run of the rich, by the rich, for the rich. He is just a tool of the rich.

Scott Brown needs to say what he will do for us not attacking Warren's cultural backgroung. It outrageous for him to put himself that low because he does not like what the polls are showing. The United States of America was built on tolerance not ignorance. Go warren!!!

.Reading about Elizabeth Warren's work and accomplishments impressed me. I see no serious proof of dishonesty from her past as Brown's advertisements try to infer. Her background in Bankruptcy law and financial reform seems more suited for the economic problems we face in this Nation today. She has already fought battles for the middle class. I believe that when Scott Brown allowed himself to be a centerfold in Cosmopolitan Magazine he lost a great deal of credibility in my eyes. He lied when he claimed he did it for tuition money because he had to. I think he was young and foolish, if Burt Reynolds got in the movie business that way, maybe I'll luck out too. The guy is not real. No way he's a clear thinker and thought his nude shoot, would look good on his resume, if he "seriously" wanted to be a US Senate. He was picked to run. I'm also positive, that if Elizabeth Warren did what he did, the race would be over because of the double standards applied to men and women. His come backs and wise ass remarks, ridiculing Warren's looks by mocking the speculation of what she would look like, if she was foolish enought to pose nude, and the tomahawk thing is repulsive, not Senatorial. Brown comes off as a nice guy sure but it feels like a big put on. The truck and work jacket thing is an act and trying to throw dirt and mud on the wall at Warren, to see what sticks is not what I want from my leaders. She's just smarter and brighter. Brown personna is contrived. The debate a draw.
