Chris why does the log not show the call for shots fired at Miller Park on Harvard St. at 1:45 am Saturday morning? The responding officers found at least a half dozen shell casings in the park. No victims or suspects. Also the log for theses three days looks pretty thin? Scanner listeners no that it was not this slow in the city for those three days.

Hey Greg,

Honestly I am not sure why, all of this information is directly from the police department. There has been some problems with the RAIDS system in the past accidentally redacting certain calls, but there are a couple of other things to consider: the police logs do not contain every call made to the department, only those calls which necessitated the production of a police report. It's conceivable, for example, that the reported "shots fired" did not turn up anything actionable and the police did not fill out a report once they observed nothing suspicious in the area. Therefore, not everything you hear on the scanner will necessarily find it's way into the public police logs.

I will follow up on the shell casing situation when the spokesman is in the office tomorrow.

City Hall don't want "gun stuff" reported. Bad for business. Chris, any luck with the fire department and their calls?
