The Week Ahead: Ice Cream, Chess, and an Art Show

A look at the coming week in and around Malden.

  • CHESS ON MONDAY: Have the kids take part in  on Monday from 9:00am–12:30pm. This award winning Chess Camp features New England's most renown chess coach, Kent Leung.  Children of all levels are welcome.  These chess camps are uniquely designed for each camper's ability. 

 

  • GARDENING ON TUESDAY:  join John Root, naturalist and educator, to learn more about gardening at the  on Tuesday from 6:30pm–8:00pm.  is a comprehensive introduction to the variety of delicious vegetables, fruits, and nuts that can be grown in the Northeast, including both traditional and novel planting selections. This 90-minute interactive power point presentation includes basic gardening tips for establishing perennial herbs, vines, shrubs, and trees.

 

  • ICE CREAM ON THURSDAY: Take the kids to the  at the  on Thursday from  1:00pm–2:30pm to get them excited about the library's summer reading program and free ice cream on the library's front lawn. Bring your lunch and a blanket and we'll scoop the ice cream. Learn about the numerous programs and events for the summer, including the new Adult Summer Reading Program.

  • ART SHOW ON FRIDAY: Go to the  on Friday at , (235 W Foster St, Melrose) from 7:00pm–9:00pm to experience the beauty of the Fells in every season through the eyes of 25 local artists.
