Skip This Year's City Census? You May Not Be Eligible to Vote

Provisions in state law inactivated over 9,000 registered voters who failed to respond. Here's how to make sure you can still vote in the June 25 Senate election.

If it did happen to slip your mind, it's cool: Non-responders should receive a reminder notice from the clerk's office this month, and can respond to the mailing in order to restore their voting status.

Even then, a resident who fails to respond to the reminder can still vote in the June 25 special senate election, Assistant Registrar of Voters Carol Ann Desiderio said.

However, they will have to produce identification verifying a Malden address and sign an affadavit stating they live in the city.

"To avoid delays and confusion at the polls on June 25th, the City Clerk urges voters who receive the reminder card to respond immediately," she wrote in an email.

For further information on your voting status, you may contact the Clerk’s Office at 781-397-7116 or elections@cityofmalden.org.
