Malden Woman, Others Arrested for Sex Slavery

Wenjie Dong, 49, of Malden, was arrested Thursday night and faces arraignment Friday for charges of sex trafficking and keeping a house of prostitution.

MALDEN, MA -- Officials arrested three people for charges related to sex slavery in six Massachusetts and New Hampshire towns Thursday, arresting three people.

Wenjie Dong, 49, of Malden, was arrested Thursday night and faces arraignment Friday for charges of sex trafficking and keeping a house of prostitution.

Two others, Zhen Lai, 37, of Quincy and Joseph Girouard, 55, of Revere, were also arrested and face similar charges.

The investigation by state and federal officials centers around Asian massage parlors and allegations of prostitution and human sex trafficking, according to Boston.com.

Investigators were in Malden, Revere, Quincy, Kingston and Wellesley, Mass., Thursday, and Manchester, N.H.

The owners of massage parlors in Wellesley and Revere were arrested Thursday in connection with human trafficking and prostitution, according to a press release from Attorney General Martha Coakley's office.

Officials say Sun Spa (also known as Sun Studio) in Wellesley, owned by Lai and Girouard, and Bodywork in Revere, also owned by the men, had masseuses who allegedly offered sexual activity in exchange for cash tips.

They have people that pay their way to the west and force them into this line of work. Simple extortion and exploitation. Well organized and widespread and not just limited to urban areas or one ethnic group. Do not think that the ringleaders are just involved in one criminal activity. Drugs and weapons are close behind. Then after a while they cast them aside broke and hooked on drugs and then replace them with new people. Bet you all of the passports were in one place. Same scumbags that are flooding our streets with drugs. No care for people. No joke, hope it leads to more arrests. My most serious post as of yet.

Steve, I understand where you're coming from. It's ok to vent your frustration and anger, you can't keep that bottled up inside of you, that would be unhealthy, and you don't need anyone's permission.

Human trafficking is disgusting, especially when it involves sex trafficking. It's not uncommon -- there are a lot of people worldwide who are slaves, estimated between 12 and 27 million. Even in the US, if you have the money, you can essentially buy a person for domestic help or sexual gratification. 17,500 people are trafficked into the US each year. 3/4ths of all people forced into slavery in the world are women and half of them are -children-. The victims are often lured into the country under false pretenses, have their passports and means of communications stolen, and are kept under close guard with little chance of escape -- and no knowledge of what resources are available to them to escape.

This can happen and does happen anywhere, especially where people have the cash to commit such a heinous crime. It will happen no matter where you move, so long as there are people who think a person's freedom has a price tag.
