Police Evacuate Downtown Businesses in Recruitment Center Bomb Scare
A local business owner reported an open gym bag of electronics and wires outside of the military recruitment center downtown, though it turned out to be music equipment.
Local business owners were evacuated near the intersection of Main and Pleasant Streets Friday evening, as police used a robot to investigate a suspicious package outside of the military recruiment office there.
Cannoli Guy owner Clark Heighton said he saw the package - an open gym bag with protruding electronic wires - in front of the center and thought the worst.
"It was just weird, in front of a...federal office," he said, noting police thought it looked suspicious as well.
Police dispersed from the scene a little after 7 p.m., however, discovering the package was only a tiny electric guitar amplifier and some associated wiring.
In 2008, a blast detonated outside of a recruitment center in Manhattan's Times Square.

Good job Cannoli guy, I would have thought the same thing. Good job MPD in taking this seriously.

Chris, You left out the most important part. How many Cannolis did Clarke manage to sell the police before they dispersed? Kidding...

Is it true that this wasn't for the Recruitment Center, but really for the Cannoli Guy, but since there's no sign out front for the store, they didn't know where to leave the package?

Not sure about anything like that...
