Firefighters Punished for Failing to Respond to Fatal 911 Call
Three firefighters and a fire alarm operator have been punished after the Medford Fire Department failed to respond to a 911 call on July 13 that involved a fatality, according to a press release from the city.
The fire alarm operator involved contacted three on-duty firefighters through their personal radios, but not with another communications system he was supposed to use, and the three firefighters had their personal radio volume too low to hear the dispatch, according to the release, according to the press release. Arlington High Team Receives Equipment Grant
The Arlington High football team recently received a grant from USA Football for eight new Revolution Speed Helmets, according to Spy Ponders coach John Dubzinski. Dubzinski, who wrote the grant application, said this is the second straight year his team has received the grant. Police: Suspect Shot and Killed After Foot Chase on Dartmouth Street
Boston Police fatally shot a suspect after a traffic stop lead to a foot chase in the area of 130 Dartmouth Street on Tuesday evening, according to police. According to a statement, police said a suspect was pulled over at 5:30 p.m. when he pulled a gun on officers and began to flee on foot. Police said one of the two pursuing officers fired one shot, hitting the suspect in the chest. He was pronouced dead at Boston Medical Center. — Sara Jacobi
