The car nearly came out of the other side of the building at 804 Eastern Ave. Monday afternoon.
A car went through a closed garage door in an Eastern Avenue storefront Tuesday afternoon and nearly broke through the other side.
A lower portion of garage door, located at 804 Eastern Ave., was completely broken off of the frame just after 2 p.m. Monday.
A wall on the other side was structurally damaged.
Medical responders were seen bringing a man on a stretcher into an ambulance, though his condition was not immediately available.

I guess it's accurate to say life is just one big "what's next?" and Malden is just a part of our life. So I wonder what's next?

What's next? How about a convenience store across the street and another strip mall across the street and a block down. The traffic (and potential for accidents) will only increase at that already very dangerous intersection. It's going to be a good place to avoid when possible.

One big dump is what it's turning into. I have over 45 years in this city and never thought it would get this bad. We just put our house up for sale because we don't feel safe here anymore especially being seniors. Time to move out of Malden.

I did not put my house up gor sale after 45 years of living on Malden, for a car accident. Chris, it was put up for sale due to the increase in crime. Shooting, robbery, drugs and gang activity. I don't feel safe as a senior in Malden, anymore. At 64 years of age Malden, is no place for a senior. At Stop & Shop the other day a man parked in Handicap, no sticker and when I asked him to leave the spot because I have a permit he told me to go F myself. You say that to a senior citizen who needs the spot and has a permit? My husband is on oxygen and has a walker and that young man treated us like that. Malden, is a rat hole compared to what it once was and the citizens try to keep it clean and free of some crime. Feel like the city officials just don't care as much as we do. Mike G you would say see ya. 45 years in Malden and that is how you see it? Like you don't care about the elders who helped make Malden what it was back then. It's hard Chris, not something you want to do, but feel for your safety you have to do.

"Mike G you would say see ya. 45 years in Malden and that is how you see it? Like you don't care about the elders who helped make Malden what it was back then."
I don't care about how Malden WAS, I care about what Malden can be, and if you're not willing to be a part of improving the city (like you say you once did), then don't let the door hit you on the way out.
So what would I say? I'd say that someone who bails on their city after 45 years is a quitter.

LOL welcome to the club. I have a handicapped spot in front of my house because I dont have a driveway and 21 steps to climb. I see a young girl all the time run down Acorn Court with 2 DD's with a H sticker gets her smack comes out with her eyeballs hanging out then crab walks to her car and tells me to F myself. Then I get Pea Pod parks there, then no Handicaped stickers and all I get is go F yourself. Its not worth it.But thats not going to drive me away. I was born here and no one will drive me out.

Yes there is crime everywhere, but Malden seems to be seeing much more than residents are willing to take.

That was directed at all three of you, not just yourself. People parking in handicap spots are a pet peeve of mine as well (and this guy sounds like a real piece of work), but I've lived all over and jerks like this exist outside of the city, too.
I just don't get calling Malden a "rat hole" and getting this worked up over a car accident. There is a real tendency to just trash this city for no good reason sometimes.

It was not about the car accident is was about Malden, in general. Chris, Malden has become a dump over the years. 45 years here I would know. I raised and educated my children here and work 39 years in Malden. My opinon is my opinon and to me it has gone down hill. I was sad to put my house up for sale after all those years of working to pay for it. That was our first and only home purchased and we raised our children there. What else am I to do as a senior who no longer feels safe stepping outside?

Apple, I can vouch for the rotten attitudes towards the elderly in Malden. I was at the police station one fine afternoon, trying to get a parking permit sticker. The elderly woman in front of me was trying to get the desk officer to help resolve her problem with an out-of-state car parked in front of her house (and over partially of her driveway). She told the officer there is a handicap sign in front of her house that clearly stated it was handicapped parking. She acknowledged the multiple parking violations on the vehicle. She also said the sign clearly stated 'subject to tow'. The cop then said to her "lady, what do you want me to do?....next!" So I feel for you.

LOL I have a Haddicapped in front of my house cause I dont have a driveway. Allways someone in there. I called and they said do you need it now?? Dah. They want to make money its $300 a wack and $500 if you use someone's elses Handicapped placard. But most times they will grab them. Parking inforcement is kick butt on this. He goes over and beyond.

J.longbow my house will be listed on ReMax website by the weekend. We just had it done last week, details are all completed and it will have plenty of photos to go with it. PAUL, I know it happens a lot to us seniors, but it happens everywhere. It is disgusting the behavior of some people. I just can't stay in a place I don't feel safe anymore. I am still able to get out and do things, but don't go out frequently because I am nervous. My husband is disabled and we have to take him to doctors once every two weeks. I like to get groceries at that time and little household items. Stop & Shop has become a nightmare for me, I don't even ferl safe down there anymore. It is upsetting to realize I have to move away from a city I onced loved and enjoyed so much. I know there is crime in many locations, but officers in thoses cities seem to be more plentyful than here in Malden. Even down by the Sq with the Herritage Homes seniors are getting nervous. It don't take much for a punk kid to knock me over I am all of 110lbs soaking wet.

Malden folks, just so you know accidents like this happen everywhere. As I sat under the dryer of my favorite salon (dare I use the term "beauty"), a car came crashing through the front (all glass) and stopped inches from me. The man was two sheets to the wind (or 3, or 4 ... just VERY) and his wife was waiting for him to pick her up from the salon after her treatment. It was far from funny at the time but as I look back, I remember the look on the wife's face, my hurrying to get out from under the dryer, the hairdresser standing with hands on her head, eyes wide, mouth open, and it seems humorous now.
Point of this little vignette is to hopefully ease the minds of those who have fear of their town going bad ... accidents happen in the most unusual places at the most unusual times in very usual ways sometimes.

Do they still give prizes in Happy Meals?
Anna Bucciarelli
6:22 pm on Sunday, February 10, 2013
They are "toys", and yes they are still in Happy Meals ... not only that but you are asked if you want a boy or girl toy. I know this because every other Saturday I do the "Billerica Waltz" with my son ... Market Basket for groceries, K-Mart for this & that, the dollar store for color/work books for my son, then lunch at Micky D's (which is a great concession on my part and I only have coffee, which I find pretty good. So, David, you are now fully informed. Actually, a Happy Meal is not all that bad and reasonably priced ... my boy has hamburger and that includes a drink, small (really tiny) fries, apple slices and toy, which we give back or to another kiddie nearby.
