Sure it is David that's why the FD is using a 25 year old spare engine that should not be on the road and why they had to borrow a spare engine from Revere since 2 of the regular engines were out for repairs. Then they have the 2 ladder trucks that are 15 and 12 years old which have both had mechanical issues. That's just the FD's apparatus issues. Haven't even gotten to the fact that the PD is understaffed by 20-25 patrolmen.

What about he shooting at the skate park last week. Oh that's right it doesn't count because the shooter was a bad shot and the kid only had minor injuries. The city is run by incompetent hacks. It really is time vote them all out next election

They seem to be rating the seriousness by how bad the victim was shot. Typical playing it down. Thats all the polititions do is Talk,Talk,Talk, and more Talk nothing but foolishness comes out of their mouths and for another year nothing gets done. The police are doing a fabulouse job. Howard M has got the right Idea. Tell the polititions to stop Grandstanding and get out there in the streets with the people instead of Facebook. Lets look the peolple in the Eye and tell everyone we are goin to do something.

You can't have a cop on every street to protect you. Maybe you should get an ordinance that Kennesaw, Georgia has had since 1982. It states, In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore. I have been in contact with the PD down there and they say crime has gone down to almost o %. I am going to put this on our ballot this Nov election for my town in Maine.

Alternatively, you could just move to Kennesaw, which strikes me as an "everybody wins" scenario.

If crime is making residents uncomfortable...lets create a city where its uncomfortable to commit crime...people loitering in the city at parks at all hours is a sign of potential disturbances...its why there are posted signs with park usage hours...but the more telling sign is still unknown. What were the motives aside from yesterday afternoons shooting allegedly over a girl? why the shootings occurred will help set the course to prevent them again....also remember...most if the current government has only been in office 6-7 months...previous had years to work on this...ideas are needed not accusations, sarcasm, or poor attempts at humor...that's not going to help. Call your city counselors and demand they work in this problem immediately and hold them accountable for results.

I agree with you. I've never doubted the Malden Police Department. They can only do so much with what they have. Our Mayor has taken a step in the right direction by bringing on board three new police officers, for which he should be commended. That should make a huge difference.

There are a lot of frightened people right now in Malden, including me, so why make us wait? An emergency meeting cannot be held with some, if not all of you who represent Malden sooner than August 27th? If you were willing to meet this week, I am willing to bet that people will show up to voice their concerns.

David Mokal, There is plenty of room here in Maine. It's to bad your are stuck in the big city. I was there 49yrs of my life and gave up the police job because of the rotten politics. If you don't fit, then you must aquit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meggie, first of all I see you don't like to identify yourself. 2nd, you don't have to by a consumer good from private company. There are a lot of indivduals that sell also, and about your constitutional rights, be careful who you vote for president as the one there, wants to take your rights away. I give you credit for being so knowledgable about Kennesaw and Malden stats.

Marsters- I don't give out my full name because I've personally experienced the consequences of doing so. My safety, and the safety of those who live with me, is more important than a few people online finding me less credible. The Internet is a scary place, and you might not have seen how terrible people can be if they don't like your opinon, but I have, unfortunately. It would be easy enough to track me down if someone wanted to from here, but I'd rather not hand it out on a platter.

Also unfortunate, both viable presidential candidates are all about increasing government control of our personal lives, but that's another discussion all together :).

I hope that public safety is taken seriously and not just used in a political game. The police here have been cut to dangerous levels. At one time we had policemen working in the housing projects and on bicycles and walking around. Now they don't have enough cops to fill their shifts. Buy a scanner and listen and see it's incredible if you can hear their terrible radios.

David M your are so right I lived in the Linden Highlands when their were farms up there.Kennedy Drive goes right through the property we owned. Eminent Domain our property. I went to school with you David Linden Brown and Malden High. We had no trash pickup....had to burn are own...We did get plowed with a big ol V plow.The Howletts lived across and had a small farm their too. We were the Forgotten Ones...but im glad no one bothered us. Every Sunday Morning we would walk across rt C-1 and target shoot with the Revere Cops. At 12 years old we all had guns and used to walk across Rt C1 with 22's and 30 Carbines and go shooting with them. Try doin that now! Ah the good ol Days!
