Obituary For Dianne M. Dingolo, Former Cheverus School Principal

The former principal and teacher dedicated her life to Catholic education.

 

Dianne (Morretti) Dingolo, of Saugus, the retired Principal of the Cheverus School in Malden, died Saturday morning at Lighthouse Nursing Care Center, Revere. She was 68.

Born and raised in Lynn, Dianne spent most of her life as an educator. After high school, she entered the Sisters of the Cross and Passion in Wakefield, RI where she taught both there and in Connecticut.  She earned her Master’s Degree at U. Mass, Amherst.

After leaving religious life, Dianne continued to teach and was a teacher at Cheverus School until being appointed Principal in 1988. She served until 1998. She also taught at Emmanuel College and Pope John High School, Everett until she retired.

The beloved wife of Robert Dingolo, Dianne is the loving daughter of Rose (Serino) and the late Angelo Morretti. A devoted sister to: Joanne Bonura and her late husband Salvatore of Revere, Rosanne Testa and her husband Jim of Malden, Suzanne Feltman and her husband Jeff of Manchester CT, Chrisanne Gunderman and her husband Wayne of Lynn, Dante Morretti and his wife AnnMarie of Saugus and dear sister-in-law of Marlene Dingolo of Medford and the late Richard Dingolo. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday from 3 thru 8 in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street, Malden where a funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning January 25th at 10. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Dianne's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to the Cheverus School Alumni Fund, 30 Irving St., Malden, MA 02148.

Dianne was a very special woman. I am proud to have had the opportunity to know her. She will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Dingolo was a great teacher. I had her for 8th grade at Cheverus School in 1984. I was so sad to hear of her death at such a young age. God bless to her and her family.

Mrs Dingolo was such a wonderful teacher, principle, and person I graduated Cheverus School in 1993 she was so kind if my lilttle sister would be upset and miss our mother she would let her eat lunch in her office. Such a kind woman. God Bless you Mrs. Dingolo. Tara Douglasville,Ga.
