New Fitness Center Opens at Salemwood School

The gym was made available through a $100,000 grant from the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils.

Officials cut the ribbon on a new fitness center at the Salemwood School campus Wednesday morning, made possible through a $100,000 grant from the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils

Students can now enjoy a variety of weights and exercise machines, at no local cost. Each of the centers are financed through a public/private sector partnership with companies like Coca-Cola.

The program, first started in California, seeks to improve academic and physical excellence through fitness programs in schools.
