Let me get this straight....people have to pay money to watch some guy 'reflect' on his first year of failures?

Failures...? Other than the crime, which I blame more on chief wiggums and Howard who thought there was no crime problem in Malden, he seems to be trying a lot harder and bringing in new technology, something the last mayor from the nursing home could not use. It's only been a year, kinda like Obama inheriting the Bush mess, it will probably take a few years to undo the damage of Howard

I guess that is because they don't want anyone there who actually lives here and puts up with all of the problems that have gone unresolved. They just want business owners and people that will just pat him on the back and say "job well done"! Again, not that I blame the Mayor for everything -- a ton was left behind by his predecessor, but nothing seems to be getting any better and I'm not sure what he will be "reflecting" on!

Linda, I seriously think I would last all of 20 minutes in politics. I am so sick of the political hacks, the nepotism, the back scratching, etc. It all gets so old. Charging people to hear first hand the current state of the city? Is this guy kidding? It's bad enough business has to pay ridiculous amounts of taxes. Now they get to pay more to hear something that should be said for free? I just don't think so!

You are right Paul. That was the problem with the last mayor too. It was the biggest joke. Every time someone came close to running against him, he would give them some job with the City and he would be off an running to get elected for another term. He was by the far the most arrogant man I ever listened to, and we have him to thank for a lot of the mess we are dealing with now! But this is crazy. Imagine a State of the City report and you have to pay to hear it! Really?!

Chris are you referring to MATV. Have you ever watched anythig on that channel. Most times you can hardly hear the audio. Not a very good solution. Now if the Mayor really wanted to let the people hear what he had to say, and really cared about the peoples views he'd hold this Address some place say like The Jenkins Auditorium at the High School so there would be plenty of seats for people to attend if they wanted, and for free, and at a time when his residents aren't working so they can attend. Why do people have to be stuffing their face with breakfast food for ridiculous prices just to listen to him speak? Speaking of the prices? Where is the money going????? The Mayors Fund???? Give me a break.

I would not pay toattend this event. Agree the only ones who will be attending at the kiss butts. When he pulls his head out from under the desk and realizes he can 't just put a Band-Aid over Malden, maybe then I will have more respect. We have to many issues to resolve and yet he is on top of only a few. He is better than Howard for sure, but not as good as Malden can really use. His efforts are good, but time to step it up a bit.

The likeability factor gets old really quick, he was involved in politics in this city long enough before becoming mayor he knew exactly what was waiting for him, he should have had a better game plan. For crime to the PAYT but that doesnt seem to be the case.

I doubt they will put on tv what really happens. Typicly they have two, one like that only members of the club see and a second for the general public.

Quality food from where? You know it's catered. So my guess would be Anthony's, they have a pretty strong hold on the City when it comes to these things. Again, though, quality food? Theres only so much you can do with bacon, eggs, and hash browns, and none of it adds up to those prices.

$100 for bacon & eggs, Michelle? Really?

It was at most $30 for non-members. $100 was the sponsor-level donation.

So ,what do we have to report, what did he say? I was at the Bank of America by stop and shop and today, noticed they now have security guards. That must be because of the bang up chief wiggums did. I am willing to bet the next chief will be found already serving in Malden and his credentials for modern crime fighting will be impeccable

Stop-N-Shop should have had security gurds a LONG time ago. The police should not be responsable for security at a private company, although that company pays the detail fee, they should have there own security. Which they actually do upstairs watching the cameras, but their should be uniformed guards on the floor near the doors.

The mayor was at the opening of the Moroccan market, but no ribbon cutting for the Cuban restaurant? What's up with that? Anyone been there yet, no liquor license yet though, which makes it just another pizza joint kind of place though

They're having a soft opening this week, I believe they are doing the ribbon cutting stuff this next week or the week after.

We went on Wednesday night. Food was excellent and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The chef/owner Roberto made the rounds of the tables talking to people and asking how things were. We will definitely go back. Wishing them the best of luck.

As my husband just pointed out this is not in the league of another pizza joint - quality of food and presentation put them way above.

Looked into this, sounds like like a liquor license is in the works sometime in the future.

I think the Mayor cares for Malden and wants to improve it. He should be careful not to allow those who have a knack for attaching themselves to whoever is in charge like a barnacle to force their will on him.

I agree, the last mayor was about hiring friends (special assistant organized crime, what ever was the result of that), uncontrolled growth , ignoring crime. He seems to be trying, but did we really need two docksides lol

It's better than a vacant building I guess. I think the big focus has to be crime and was curious if he addressed this during the event.
