Man Reportedly Fires Shots in Air Near Newton Street

Malden police pursue a male suspect who allegedly fired a handgun into the air following an argument. The victim also fled the scene.

Malden Police have issued a "Be on the Lookout" advisory for a man who allegedly fired a handgun into the air during an argument near Newton Street early Tuesday morning.

While no official account from the police department was available during the late hour, police scanner transmissions around 2 a.m. noted multiple calls about the incident.

Police were reportedly later able to recover evidence of a shooting from the scene.

The suspect was described as a black male in his early- to mid-20s, wearing a dark coat with a skinny build. He reportedly fled in a white Toyota Carolla with other passengers.

The victim reportedly fled on foot.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Malden Detectives Unit at 781-397-7181.

Thanks for that info David. Just to be clear we have no evidence that these people were high or had anything to do with drugs.

we need more cops, this city is going down. I've seen boston cops in plain cloths stopping people and pulling cars over. How many uniform officers working each shift? I was behind a cop car few days ago. This officer stopped a car loaded with bunch of gangster looking kids and he had no back up. Good luck and god bless these officers.

everybody wants to talk about the poor amount of police we have in the city let's remember it was we the people who voted in proposition 21/2 which is when all the cut backs started as a result less police less firefighters less dpw workers a fire department which went from 5 fire stations down to 3 and now 1 policeman to each car shamful and a dpw that has been cut down to even less than what it was.but yet taxes still go up and services still go down wait til fiscal year ends in june services will prpbably go down again
