Just like how they say "happy holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" this time of year. Hate to have to offend the small minorities who celebrate "other"

Well, I suppose we COULD have a Christmas parade AND a Hannukkah parade AND a Ramadan parade AND blahblahblahwhatever, but that gets expensive and the poor persecuted Christians would probably bitch about that too.

Am I the only one who finds it ironical the parade is dedicated to Tom Fallon, Deb Fallon's dad? Anyone have the back story to this one?

Annie, Your reaching here...there is no back story. I usually am right on track with your posts, but there is nothing here but an honor for a guy who served this great city, nothing more....nothing less. Merry Christmas.

Can't someone just do something nice for someone? Why did it have to be so ironical as you stated? The city was doing something good and as always AnnieOMalden, has to make a stink about it.

Apple et al: Not "making a stink" or whatever. I worked on Deb Fallon's campaign and it got pretty intense. It just seemed ironical to me that the first parade as Mayor, Gary dedicated it to Tom Fallon, his adversary's father. If it were only to honor him and his many, many contributions to Malden, great. If it were meant to bring those who supported Fallon together to celebrate mending those fences, great. Maybe I have spent too much time at City Hall watching what goes on there and it has made me suspect of what goes on. Just asking...hard to believe I am the only one who thought there was something peculiar there. Makes no difference to me and my life. Only observing. Calm yourselves.

Annie, why do you always find a reason to complain? Why is it you harp on everything having to do with city officials? Can you just for once back off and keep quiet? Not everything has to have a rhyme or reason, it was a simple dedication.

My point exactly it was just a nice gesture, but AnnieOMalden always has to bring politics into it. Just glad it was not dedicated to Kinnon, she would have lost it. I though it was a very nice parade.

Apple: LOL Don't you worry...there WILL be a parade someday dedicated to him. Right now that's in his mind...he's dedicating himself to make that happen one day much like Gary has worked so hard for the job he has. No doubt in my mind that is a goal for Neil. Clearly he is making his case for being considered just as some on this board have done. This is not my being whatever it is some of you like to paint me as. Seriously, again, am I the only one who sees this? It's not rocket science.

BTW: Just curious...is there any reason why there is not one picture of a Fallon family member in any of the holiday parade photos? Again, just curious.

Annie, with all due respect, it might not be that you're the only one who sees it, but the only one who really gives two craps.

I'm guessing that people were there to watch a parade.

Annie, why do you have to bring politics into everything? Can you not go one day just being happy for someone? It is a picture who cares, what matters is what he did for the city. If people want to dedicate something to him so be it. I think we need to dedicate a Bitc-- and complain memorial in your honor. Stop being so hasty and learn to appreciate things. Are you upset the parade was not dedicated to you?

Apple and Mike: So what if I have an opinion? That's the wonderful thing about America. I am free to call it like I see it and the Patch has allowed me the opportunity to do it here. I don't think I am being "nasty" when I report things or ask questions. Why is it you have to name call instead of debating me on the issues I bring up? Don't you know when you do that, I am sure I am right about what I post? Keep name calling all you want. I am rubber and you are glue. What you say to me bounces off me and sticks to you.

Apple, I tried it and didn't like it. Why don't you try stop telling me how much you dislike my opinions and just don't read them if you don't like them. I like politics and will continue to enjoy commenting on political issues or any others that interest me. As a "super voter" I earn the right to keep an eye on those who are in office every time I cast a vote, for or against the winners.

Ok, Mikey...maybe you didn't exactly call me names but you can be a real stinkah ya know, not necessarily to me but you don't mind sending a rocket up someone's butt and in fact rather enjoy it as it seems.

C'mon Apple...don't you think there would be one little picture of a Fallon family member? After all, the whole Holiday Parade was dedicated to their husband, dad and brother and not one of them were there? He had 11 kids for cripes sakes! Really? The Mayor has a photographer -on staff- and not one picture?? Wow... Maybe you shouldn't be the one to defend this one, ok? If you can't answer my questions then sit this one out. Only because you keep this thing alive have I kept answering you.

Did you walk the entire parade route? Were you there every step of the way? Were you there when the parade ended? Again you seem to be the only one concerned about the Fallon's. I myself enjoyed the parade with or without a Fallon, in it. I am sure they were there, but maybe they made the decision to keep away from the media. Not everyone is media hungry/go getters. Some people don't always want to be in the spotlight. Ever think maybe it was a hard and emotional day for yhe family? Geez all done with this subject matter.

Apple: You just can't stop yourself, can you? In the 50 pix on the city's website there are no Fallons. Why would I take your word on them being somewhere there? Are you telling me if a parade was dedicated to your loved one, none of your family would show up and be in the photo op? Why don't you just let me have the last word on this one and let it go?

Why not just pick up the phone and say Ms. Fallon, why were you not at the parade dedicated to your father? Simple you would have your answer right from the horses mouth. Then just maybe then you might find comfort in your answer. It was a wonderful parade with traditions of family old and young, beautiful weather, laughter and sounds of everyone having a great time. Apparently you just sat home and wallowed behing a social media site waiting to ask questions about stupid things.

You think you have a back bone, but if you did you would take your issues up with the people directly. Like call Ms. Fallon and ask her or call Mr. Kinnon and speak with him. A little less on here and a little more meeting with them to discuss the issues. If you did not care you would not respond. Now I AM DONE WITH YOU good night.

Apple: I communicate with Deb frequently. As far as Kinnon is concerned, I can assure you he would not take my call. The last time I contacted him was when my twins were mugged on Columbia St. on their way home from the charter school when the MDubs (Maplewood gang) were attacking the neighborhoods. The police were called and criminals apprehended. My boys helped take two scumbags off the street here and who have not returned. I alerted the school as they should know about these things as well as Neil Kinnon who was my councilor and the chair of the school. I heard back from Dr. McCleary and not one word from Neil. To this day. I don't need you to tell me how to run my life. That's up to my hubby and kids. Please tell me you mean it when you say you are DONE with me?

David and Robert: I kinda like the "Holiday Parade" idea because you can get more people in the parade to represent all the cultures we now have in this city. Fun to learn about the different cultures around the world and now across the city. The kids love it too.
