Malden Public Schools Cancelled Monday

Residents should begin receiving calls from the district sometime this afternoon.

 

UPDATE: Classes at the Cheverus School are also canceled Monday. 

Original story: Malden Public Schools will be closed Monday as the city encourages people to stay indoors as Hurricane Sandy hits the commonwealth. 

Gov. Deval Patrick has declared a state of emergency. Mayor Tom Menino has asked all non-essentiall city personnel to stay home tomorrow. 

Malden Mayor Gary Christenson said city employees should know whether they'd be ask to come in by 5 p.m. this evening. 

No word on whether Malden Catholic or Mystic Valley Regional Charter School have cancelled classes.
