Malden Makes List of Communities with Most Non-Citizens
Information was based on the census reports.
Malden has made the list of Massachusetts towns with the highest percentage of residents who are non-citizens, according to wcvb.com.
Malden came in second only to Chelsea, which topped the list. In these communities, 23.67 percent and 30.97 percent respectively were listed as non-citzens, according to the outlet.
Salem, Lynn, Revere, Andover and Peabody were also on the list.
Information was based on the census. Participants were asked if they were citizens, but there were no questions pertaining to the legality of their residency, according to WCVB.

I'd be happy to hear whatever you think is biased but as DannyBoy points out, the data is pretty straightforward. Perhaps I insufficiently bashed immigrants in my story.

I grew up in Melrose, but have resided in Malden for over thirty years. It is not the same city I moved to back then. I suspect if it were legal and proper to ask the people on the street picking through the dumpsters if they have a green card, the answer would be no, but only if they could understand the question spoken in English.

I must've missed the part of Chris's bias. While he admits he's left, this is very down-the-middle and straight-forward reporting.
As a fellow member of the media, it never ceases to amaze me how dumb some readers can really be. But, on the bright side, I'm sure I can speak for Chris when I say, "Even if you're going to say something completely unfounded, at least you're reading our stuff."

That said, living my whole life in Malden, I cannot wait to leave. The rubbish that exists in the city is amazing. A city that was once vibrant is now completely fractured because of unchecked cultural differences. People come to this nation and treat it like the one they just left, only with the expectation of getting more.
Malden likes to boast its cultural diversity, but high crime? Low scores in the schools? Graffiti? Gangs? How can anyone say that all of this isn't related when we have such a high ILLEGAL, non-citizen immigrant population in this city. It's disgusting.

@ Dan, not to belittle your level of intelligence or question your xenophobia, but Non-Citizens does not equal Illegal. A person can be illegal & undocumented OR a person can be documented & legal But in both cases they can be non-citizens.

I don't dispute the fact that they are many illegal immigrants in Malden. But please don't lump illegal immigrants in with the people who work extra hard to come here legally, obey the laws and have a positive impact on the community. The people in the census are most likely legal residents, as I would imagine that the illegal immigrants would not want to be documented.
From the ages of 7 through 18, I lived in Malden as a Green Card holding legal resident. My parents worked hard, paid their mortgage and property taxes on time. We shopped at Malden business and went through the public school system. After my 18th birthday I studied hard for my naturalization test and became a Naturalized US Citizen. Since that day I have voted in every election. I live here still with my husband (also a Naturalized Citizen) and my children.

maybe a story on how long it took to get to this percentage and does it correlate to the increase in sect 5 housing, crime rate, high rises, proliferation of dollar store - boedegas and the decline of the square. Maybe such a story would disprove that the increase in all of these are not directly in relation to the increase of not citizens in the city
