Level 3 Sex Offender Moves to Salem Street
Tyrone Henderson, 57, of Malden, is at a "high risk to re-offend," according to the state Sex Offender Registry Board.
Police say a man twice convicted for indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or older is at a "high risk to re-offend," and are issuing a community notification about his arrival in the neighborhood.
Tyrone Henderson, 57, of 120 Salem St. in Malden, was convicted of the felonies in both 1987 and 2009.
Such notifications are required under state law. Henderson is not wanted by police.

Drug dealers kill more children per year than sex offenders. Drunk drivers kill more children per year than sex offenders. Abusive parents kill more children per year than sex offenders. Crazy people with guns kill more children per year than sex offenders. HOW COME THERE IS NO REGISTRY FOR THOSE PEOPLE? Because registries don't work. They are a violation of privacy and the constitution. Even Germany wouldn't deign to have a sex offender registry.

Bar t: sex offends may not put you six feet under in death, but they do worse they kill your soul. For the raped/molested person we live a life long death. We may be able to go on living in the world. But our souls have been taken. To me that's worse. At least when a drunk driver kills you your dead. Getting molested or raped does NOT compare. Sex offenders deserve to be put on blast. Because to many keep getting away with it. At least this way we can see the asses are out there and recognize them.

I'm curious how someone like this is allowed not only to be free after 2 offenses and being classified "high risk to re-offend", but who is allowing him to remain so free that he can live in an area that has : Cheverus School, MHS, Salemwood, MV Charter School, and Linden all on the same street, along with the new Youth Center just down the road. Talk about putting our children at risk! Lots of other stuff needs to be addressed too: Who is paying for his housing, is he getting assistance of any kind to move/live there? Is he a US Citizen? Where did he live before this and why did he leave?

Because, Raj, Malden has no laws on the books regarding where a prosecuted sex offender can live or can't live. And if anyone thought of trying to make a law in this regard. you better have deep pockets when going against the A.C.L.U. Good luck!

Raj, questioning the 'offender's' immigration status won't change the fact that he already committed the crime. Don't waste your time.

I am a victim of a sex crime. The offense was when I was 11. One word...devastating. I do agree with a registry; only problem is 1 registers while 5 do not.
For a long period of time I ran a trade program in a prison system. I've had murderers, drug offenders and sex offenders as my students. What I've learned through talking with them is their sex drive is ALWAYS on. They are predators and the ones ive known don't trust themselves. They will look for and take advantage of the smallest opportunity to satisfy their obsession/craving. If you have ever seen the movie, A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe you would understand that they are/will always be tempted as with any addict.
Does anyone think castration would stop them from offending?
paul surette

Mr. A makes a good point here, people. A lot of these 'predators' have an illness, and all too often, incurable. Rehabilitation for a lot of these folks is a futile effort. Like Ma. A said, a lot of them know they are wrong, and do not trust themselves to not offend again. Throw all the studies and shrinks you want at them. This is an age-old problem that civilization has endured through the centuries!

Bottom line is they are released from jail and do not serve appropriate sentences. If you are truly passionate like your posts you should be calling your state rep/senator and expressing outrage to have mandated prison terms for certain crimes.

Disgusting and he should not be allowed to live as close as he is to so many schools. He did a hurtful and disrespectful and disgusting thing. You are out of your mind if you think we should not know. Apparently you have no clue yourself BarT, protecting children is our job. You don't allow some scumbag like that to even walk the streets let alone live within 5 schools that close by. I for one plan to call Mr. Christenson, on this issue. I am all for 2nd chances, but this man lost that when he offended more than once. Why the heck would anyone in their right mind risk this again?

There has to be some kind of law in place that he can not live near a school zone. The city needs to move him away from the schools. People like him should be behind bars for life or if they admit to the rape give them the death penalty. We have one to many offenders in Malden.

I am so glad I no longer live in that building. Scary. And I am shocked that he is allowed to live so close to Malden high school. If he is considered a strong risk to commit another crime, he should not be free. I can't wait till my daughter graduates because I have every intention of moving away. Malden is no longer the safe haven I remember from my childhood.

Hiiiiide your kids, hiiiiide your wife.... they be rapin' everyone up in here!
Sigh. I know that any injection of reason or factual information into this conversation will be labeled a defense of sex offenders (it's not), but all the hysteria about his living near the schools is a bit overblown. First of all, you can't throw a rock without hitting a school in this town. Secondly, there is no evidence to indicate that this guy targets children. He's been convicted twice of assault "on a person over 14." Legally, in Massachusetts, there's only "under 14" and "over 14." There's no special "14 to grownup" category, and for all we know we should be more concerned about his proximity to elderly housing, . "Sex offender" does not equal "child molester."
I now return you to your regularly scheduled uninformed screeching.

I'm sure I will be demonized for saying this, and quite frankly, I could care less but Bart T has a valid point. If you're putting things in perspectives as far as stats go, he is right on the money! More kids died on the streets of Boston the last 5 years than did children involved in sexual abuse. The reason there are no registries for anything other than sexual abuse of minors is simple....drunk driving seems to be an accepted practice. And folks, don't you dare tell me you were outraged about something BEFORE it directly affected you. I didn't care much about cancer UNTIL my mother died from it. Most of us are part-time activists, so don't deny it. This convicted pedophile issue is just another 'flavor of the day' for some of you.
Anna Bucciarelli
7:06 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2013
Paul, you are correct in that until you walk in someone else's shoes you cannot begin to know the foot sore. However, I don't think of sex offenses as "flavors of the day", these are very real and painful offenses that should concern us all in one or another way. The devastation it causes the victim and the v's family is immeasurable and never goes away and to place an offender in the vicinity of vulnerable individuals, whatever their age, is totally unconscionable and disrespecting of the general population. No excuse for this, and yes, they are never "cured" as someone stated above, take a look at the long period of time between Henderson's actual convictions ... goes to show it ain't over for this guy, he's sure to offend again. I may be off base here, but I am really put off by the warning not to offend the offender. Just because he commits unspeakable acts doesn't mean the general population will ... I understand the need for the warning but I still don't like being thought of as having limited intellectual capacity. What say you?
david mokal

Anna Are you kiddin me. You cannot imagine what it does to someone. Rips their soul right out of the victim. Self Esteem is gone..Felling of guilt the rest of your life..Suicide,drug abuse, alchol abuse,. Walk in some ones shoes?? What thes people need is a slug put in the back of their heads. You cannot even go here un less it happened to you. You have no clue what it does. Hang em high

David, please take a minute to re-read my comment ... you will see that I am in full agreement with you re: the affect on the victims, that it can be lifelong. On the other hand, Paul's point is very well taken, all of us need to deal with adversities and how we do it is really up to us. I cannot imagine the devastation caused by such abuse, but I do know I've had some trials to deal with in my own life and choices needed to be made as to how I'd move on from them. Not saying it is easy, but Paul is right about making the choice to live a life or give it all up. Depends on the strength of the individual, takes determination and support, if necessary, and the will to move on to a productive life. Most of us must leave some things behind and look forward ... not saying things should be forgotten or even forgiven, but holding on to agony doesn't serve us well. My feeling is that revenge brings only a short-lived peace ... the peace must come from within. Don't ask me how it's done ... I can't answer that, I only know that in order to have any kind of meaningful life with others, particularly those we love and who love us, we just have to let go sometimes. And that's the choice, to live life or die a little more each day, bringing down the most important people in our lives with us.
Diana

Without minimizing the pain felt by victims, if you ask me part of their problem is that people insist on perceiving them as irreversibly damaged. Nobody thinks that being violently mugged inevitably ruins your life, but the peculiar hysterical obsession that Americans have with all things sexual would seem to indicate that a great many people believe that our souls live in our genitals.

In defense of Anna Bucciarelli, there are no easy answers for pedophiles and their traits. Throw ALL the prison sentences you want at them....it's an illness. I grew up with the idea that life sometimes just plain sucks, and you deal with it. It's what you do with it that makes the difference. If you choose to be a 'victim' the rest of your life, then that's on YOU. Quite frankly, Mr. Mokal, I expected better from you, given your alleged age and wisdom. What makes or breaks 'victims' is choices in how they deal with it!

Paul..after the 3d victim they are now desperate then comes the missing or murdered. Why do you think that if the Molesters are not seperated fromn the regular prison inmates they end up killed. Why because the crimes that the other inmates mostly started from molestation. There is no mercy for them. Remember the fourth time is usually fatal for the victin. I still stand for my reasons execute them. Paul check the crime map there are thousands all arond us from Chelsea to Stoneham,Revere. Call it what you may and I hope to God it doesnt happen to anyone here for it not only destroys the victim but also destroys the family members as well. There are over 300 serial killers in the USA does that mean they all have illnesses. Do they not fall under the same serial molesters? They might have well killed there victim by molesting them. Nope this Ol Geeezer say String em up!

Level 1 sex offenders are sort of a tricky lot. I knew a guy who was 18, at the start of his senior year in high school, who was going out with a 17-year-old. The mom didn't like the guy, found out they were dating, called the cops on him for statutory rape. He didn't do jail time (you know, for dating in high school), but he had to then register as a sex offender. It seriously ruined his life.
So that's why, to me, you can't exactly generalize these things.
