Update: Letter Carrier Hit by Van Released From Hospital

Postal Service said Jean Gibbs, a 23-year veteran, was struck by the car during her route Monday.

A letter carrier hit by a van just blocks from Malden Center yesterday has been released from the hospital, the postal service announced Tuesday.

Jean Gibbs, a full-time letter carrier with 23 years of experience, was seen bouncing off the hood of a van near 495 Pleasant St. Monday, and reportedly conscious at the scene, according to reports.

Citing personnel privacy concerns, the postal service said they could release no more information about the accident.
