Group Unveils $365,000 Worth of Renovations
The city provided federal funding through the North Suburban Consortium, as well as some additional through the Malden Re-Development Authority's Lead Paint Abatement Program.
Housing Families, Inc. unveiled $365,000 worth of renovations to their 254 Broadway property Wednesday afternoon, including some new siding, greater accessibility and renovated bathrooms and kitchens.
The property was the first to be purchased by the group in 1988.
Among those present for the ribbon-cutting were State Senator Katherine Clark, State Representative Paul Donato, State Representative Chris Fallon, Malden Mayor Gary Christenson, Malden City Councillors Greg Lucey, Peg Crowe and Neal Anderson, Taylor Bryan and Stephanie Harrington, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Stephen M. Wishoski, Deborah Burke, Beth Rosa and Tanya Hahnel from Malden Redevelopment Authority.
