Fire on 38 Converse Avenue has displaced three families.

A fire that broke out this morning at 38 Converse Ave. in Malden has left several families displaced and looking for shelter, according to a report published on BostonHerald.com Sunday.

Emergency communications indicated the fire broke out around 8 a.m. Sunday in the third floor of the building.

Malden Deputy Fire Chief Bill Sullivan told the Herald that nine people from three families have been displaced and the Red Cross is seeking shelter for two of the families. The Herald reported moderate damage to the third floor and water damage to other floors of the building.

Nice work MFD. Deputy Chief Sullivan is a real fire fighter and what every new and aspiring fire fighter should strive to be.

Third generation firefighter is one good reason
He has known from birth that firefighting is nit just
A paycheck but a commitment to family and community
And yes he would and will be a Great Chief. I know
Because I had the pleasure of working with two of that three generations

Im sure the city will make the right choice and make Deputy Chief Sullivan our next fire chief. It is widely known that Deputy Chief Sullivan is proudly dedicated to the MFD. A man of high integrity and flawless reputation. This man is all about loyalty to Malden, honor, dedication and service. We need credible leadership in these times, Men of integrity and intelligence.

Harvey my man, those qualities you speak of may mean something in other towns, but certainly, not here in the All American city.

These descisions will be telling. With all that has happened in Malden these are descisions that will help our city or make it a punchline.

I hope they picked the best man for the job and not just a political move. Deputy Chief Sullivan is great and maybe Colangeli does more at fires. I don't know because I have never seen Colangeli at a fire just public safety meetings.

I hope that isn't how they pick department heads, I thought those days were over with a new administration. The most qualified person should get the job not the most entrenched.
