Elizabeth Warren in Malden This Afternoon

The Democratic senate candidate will receive Mayor Gary Christenson's endorsement and visit voters at the Malden Senior Center today

Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren will be in downtown Malden this afternoon, accepting Mayor Gary Christenson's endorsement and visiting with voters at the city's senior center.

Warren will appear with Christenson 4 p.m. Thursday at city hall, with the candidate expected to arrive at the senior center around 4:15 p.m.

Warren will also receive the endorsement of Beverly Mayor William Scanlon later today.

I wish Mayor Christenson would have just stayed out of state politics and concentrated on the issues at hand facing the city or Malden. Elizabeth Warren is not going to help the city of Malden whether she is elected or not. Her ethics and political leanings do not reflect everyone in the city and therefore she has no place earning an endorsement from the mayor, who has enough trouble earning the respect of its citizens as he tries to govern a city plagued by troubles of the past as well as ongoing issues that he has been in power long enough to accept responsibility for and act on correcting them. In my opinion, City Mayors should worry about the affairs of the city and not play the (D) and (R) game of state and national politicians. If he is looking beyond city hall to the state house, then at least wait until he has been in office a few years and actually accomplished something before he starts campaigning!

Sen Brown has been good to Malden. Why would the mayor blindly support her because she is a Democrat? Bad move in my opinion and I though more of our Mayor.

Matt, can you provide any specific examples of Scott Brown having been good to Malden in particular? I mean, I'm pretty sure that it's not going to make an enormous difference to Malden in particular which of them is elected, what with them being national legislators and all, but I'd welcome any evidence otherwise.

Yeah really, how has he been specifically good to Malden? I'm very curious. Most state senators really have no influence on city wide issues.

How does a mayor endorse a candidate? Isn't he representing Malden? She certainly doesn't have Malden in her concerns and her integrity is gone because of her constant lies.

Is Ms Warren the best the Mass Dems can put up? I mean, isnt their a home grown candidate? Capuano? Tsongas, Lynch? It says something that they had to go to an outsider. Although maybe it was the smart move all along to get Scott brown re elected without tipping the hand?

I have got to laugh you hear everyone complaining about how crime is and the Courts don't do their job and cops hands are tied up because of the judges etc. Well who appoints those judges? Yes the politicians we put in office . Definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. MA can't help itself we are insane. Elizabeth Warren type is why we are in the mess we are in . Never met a tax or Government program she didn't like.

Yes Diana that is the same foolish reasoning we got OBAMA. Least qualified person ever to make it to the White House and we got what we deserved. An airhead genius who never held a real job. He gives a great speech though. You see you can judge a person by the company they keep but some of us fell for it. Warren another ultra liberal egghead from Harvard. Again if you live in a city and want to know why the crime is so high look in the mirror we elected the people who put the clowns in the cloaks on the bench.

So you're saying we shouldn't vote for people who have held public office or for people who haven't held public office or for anyone who has any association with Harvard. Good luck with that. Also, just FYI, "egghead" is generally understood to be a euphemism for "person whose intellect makes me feel insecure."

Diana 54% of the commonwealths electorate are unenrolled...hence they identify with neither party...which is why this state once had 16 years of Republican governors and even elected Brown a moderate little known republican state senator to the US Senate over the well known, better funded, and allegedly popular attorney general..If Warren manages to eke out a victory over Brown which in all likelyhood would be due to strong turnout for President Obama voters Brown will be the odds on favorite to be the next governor of this state.

Yup, 16 years of moderate Republican governors (hell, I'd consider Bill Weld for President, not this year, but in general, and I'm slightly left of Chris Matthew's leg) kept well in check by an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. Mitt Romney only won here by backpedaling on every conservative thing he'd ever said (I'd like to interrupt this post with a word problem: if you backpedal from your backpedaling, how far back have you gone?) and Scott Brown only won because Coakley's campaign was lazy and overconfident and the Patriots stank that year, forcing a massive redirection of homoerotic energy.

We may be 54% unaffiliated, but we ain't undecided.

Thank you Mr. Mayor. Finally a voice of reason in leadership in our city.

Elizabeth Warren's message to invest in ourselves & our kids sounds genuine and her solutions for economic problems & much needed infrastructure improvements is exactly what we need now.

I am tired of Mr Brown trying to hide his true republican colors and showing all those democrats that supposedly 'likes' him. Gimme a break
I lost all respect for the phony Mr Brown after his No vote in the bill to create jobs by providing payroll tax relief for middle class families and businesses, and for other purposes.

Right there with you Bruce. I took a 40% pay cut (nearly $100 less a week than unemployment offered me) to take my current job, because it's important to me to, you know, work. I think some people are just barely hanging on and a teeny, tiny bit frightened at the idea that perhaps they're only fortunate and not, in fact, deserving, and it can all go away in a moment. Of course they latch on when the GOP tells them that the people prying their fingernails off of the cliff are the poor, and not the billionaires stashing their money in the Caymans to avoid taxes. After all, it's much easier to pick on the poor than the billionaires.

Wow. I can’t believe how little people in this forum know about Elizabeth Warren. She isn’t an outsider. She has lived in Massachusetts for at least 20 years. And her credentials far outweigh those of Scott Brown who was a little known state senator from Wrentham before he was elected US Senator.

Many people believe the economy and helping middle class families is the number one issue in this election and on this she is an expert. Besides her personal experiences as a child growing up in a struggling middle-class family she researched bankruptcy and middle-class personal finance; was an advisor to the National Bankruptcy Review Commission; was a member of the FDIC Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion; oversaw TARP which was responsible for getting the bailout money back from the banks and auto industry; and spearheaded the creation of the country’s first Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Scott Brown is a likable guy but I think Warren understands better what caused the economic crash in 2008 and how to fix it.

Nice try Mark. She is full of BS and should be punished for taking a job away from a Native American candidate who deserves it. She has made a ton of money off being a part time professor at Harvard and then goes on to make ads about college tuition? She researched bankruptcy and middle class finance? So how does that do anything? She spearheaded a salary from her appointments given to her and has done nothing for anyone but herself and who hired her. I am amazed she had time to figure out how to help the insurance companies figure out how to screw over the people with mesothelioma. She's a peach.

Clint, I'm not sure what you mean by "nice try." I'm just putting together some facts I know about her and her accomplishments. I know it's tempting to repeat the knee-jerk hatred on both sides but I encourage you to do some research. If you do, you'll realize she's no phony. She has accomplished a lot and spent most of her life fighting for middle-class issues. This isn't simply a cause she picked up conveniently for this race.
