Suspect in Disabled Beating Held on $10K Bail
Ivan Bacai, 23, of Malden was arraigned for charges stemming from the brutal beating of a disabled man at the Downtown Crossing T stop.
A Malden man was arraigned Thursday for his alleged role in the group beating of a disabled 40-year-old Boston man at the Downtown Crossing T stop earlier this week.
Ivan Bacai, 23, of Malden was arraigned with fellow suspect Germial Johnson, 28, of Dorchester on charges of assault and battery on a disabled person and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Three other suspects were also arrested in connection to the beating.
Judge Michael Coyne imposed $10,000 cash bail on both parties, additionally ordering both men to stay away from MBTA property if they post the amount.

Bail! He has prior conviction for violent crimes! He is accused of a hate crime. No bail. Make him listen to a bunch of Yes albums and he will learn his lesson.

They fail to mention that the "disabled" man punched a girl in the face before this happened. Don't talk if you don't know there is always two sides to the story.

Adults should be capable of handling a situation without beating the crap out of a disabled guy in a group. They could have easily held him for the transit police.

That's not true and the entire incident is on video.

Well maybe the disabled man should have someone with him if he's capable of punching a girl in her face which started this whole thing. Plus his disability (or what he is claiming) is being schizophrenic, you don't know that by looking at someone now do you. I'm not saying they handled things the right way, all I'm saying is there is more to this story and there was more than just Bacai involved.

I'm sorry you guys were raised differently. Coming here from Russia my mother always taught me to stand up for my self. It is much much much worse to get arrested than to get a beating. A beating, your bruises go away, getting arrested screws you for life, takes food out of your kids mouths and makes it difficult to find a good job. What ever happened to having a fair fight and shaking hands and moving on either your life? In my opinion getting someone arrested is even more barbaric and cowardly then hitting someone. You people have no idea what jail is like and how the court system ruins lives and takes advantage of the poor.
How I miss the good old days when young lives don't get destroyed just because of some stupid fight.

How is it a fair fight when it's 4 people against 1 physically disabled person? This WAS NOT A FIGHT! THEY HOSPITALIZED SOMEBODY THAT HAD NO WAY TO FIGHT BACK!
Get a clue, kid.

We are sorry you are raised differently where beating up a disabled man is regarded as standing up for oneself. We are sorry you are raised differently where hitting a disabled man is just some stupid fight.
Yes, you are correct though, that I have not idea what jail is like, as unlike you= neither me or my family members were ever in one.
